The gambling house and hotel occupy the site of the former Little Caesar casino, which was opened in 1970. In 1995, Bally Entertainment announced the sale of the property’s land plot. The construction pin up of the Paris casino in Las Vegas was started back in 1997. Due to the presence in the project of such complex structural elements as a replica of the Eiffel Tower, work on the complex was delayed for 2 years. In 1999, the grand opening took place, in which the legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve took part.

AtFirstSite educational program tackles critical topic

The AtFirstSite program has been developed to address the needs of teachers, parents and youth by tackling the realities of the modern world.

The seven-part program will help those aged 11-14 make sense of online and media images, which range from sexually charged music videos to sexting to adult content.  The program is designed to provide them with the skills and tools to build on their own personal values and empower them to make healthy decisions.

The program deals with everything from body image, to unrealistic media representations, to recognizing what is safe and what is not; it does so in an age-appropriate way that puts young people themselves, and their experiences, at the heart of the discussion.

By the end of the program, those who participate in the program will have developed their own set of rules and guidelines for how to approach and understand risqué and sexual content whether it is on their phone, computer or TV screen. The program is being piloted at three schools in the United Kingdom later this quarter.

One of Safer Internet Day’s core goals is to provide new educational and awareness raising resources to meet the fast-changing online environment and to that end, AtFirstSite is making one of its lessons readily available for free download and use.

You can download the free lesson, which includes Teachers Notes, a worksheet and Powerpoint presentation at the AtFirstSite website by using the code “SID2016” as well as review the other six parts of the program, which combine to give youth a full and well-rounded understanding of a topic that teachers, parents and the youth themselves have said they wished to better understand.
