Florian Sitta, IFFOR Policy Council and Grant Committee member attended the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) Safety and Privacy in a Digital Europe meeting which was held in Brussels on 15 May 2012.
Mr. Sitta is an attorney concentrating on intellectual property, internet and communications law, corporate governance and compliance, as well as being a Commissioner for the Protection of Youth. Mr. Sitta is Head of the legal department of Beate Uhse AG, Germany which is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Representatives from EU Commission and its CEO Coalition, Parliament, key industry players and civil society were in attendance. General internet regulation needs was major topic, in particular the development of self-regulation solutions vs. binding EU-regulation regarding internet privacy and safety. The discussions included the failure of having correct information included in the domain name WhoIs; the need to update data protection laws; and efforts to improve privacy and content controls.
All topics related to Mr. Sitta role as an IFFOR member where he has been active in helping establish a global standard in combating sexual child abuse images, providing effective parental controls, accurate domain registration information, and protecting the privacy, security, and consumer rights of all Internet users.
